WE CAN'T AFFORD Rab Ne Bana De Jodi to FLOP
After a series of flops from Yash Raj Films, Aditya Chopra is making sure nothing goes wrong with his directorial venture "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" releasing on December 12, 2008.
Although the promotional activities of the film have been affected by the current situation in Mumbai, there is a drastic change in the attitude of the introvert filmmaker.
Adi is known to be secretive about his films. Normally, no one, not even the actors, get too see their film much before its release.
But this time, to get the right feedback before the release of "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", Adi held a special screening for Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Gauri Khan and her kids and the film's debutant actress Anushka Sharma.
Shahrukh GLORIFIES the COMMON MAN
Shahrukh Khan has been terribly missed since the actor has been missing on the social circuit as well as on the filmy front. Post OSO, the dimpled heartthrob has had no release (he just did a cameo in Bhoot Nath). What is surprising is the fact that The King Khan has been keeping a low profile, inspite of his highly awaited film ?Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi?, slated to release in a few days time.
SRK has apparently refrained from making any sort of promotion keeping the current atmosphere of grief that has engulfed Mumbai owing to the terror attacks in mind. However when there is a combination of SRK and Yash Raj put together where is the need of promotion? Chak De India too was not promoted before its release and the film went on to become the biggest success of 2007. So is Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi following suit?
The expectations from the film are sky high and so are the stories surrounding the film. Talks of Rab Ne being inspired by Amol Palekar?s Golmaal have also been ample. So will SRK revive Amol Palekar?s famous ?common man? character from Rajnigandha, Golmaal, Choti Si Baat with Rab Ne?
?The film is not based on Golmaal. It is true that Amol Palekar glorified the image of a common man through his many films and SRK too will play one in Rab Ne but that doesn?t mean his character or acting will be based on Palekar?s. Common man role can be executed differently by two actors. Also its better for people to see for themselves what the film is all about instead of assuming something. A lot of people think they know the story of Rab Ne?, said an industry insider.
We too agree that is too early to say if the film and SRK?s character are inspired by Palekar but for one thing we are extremely happy. After years of seeing A grade actors sporting designer outfits and looking perfectly boring there is one actor who chose to risk his star status by going de-glam and that?s SRK.
After witnessing SRK and his six pack in OSO, it is taking us time to acknowledge the same hottie wearing an extra lose formal shirt and a pair of magnifying glasses but you know what ? Haule Haule we have actually started liking this simpleton SRK too!
